Final Thoughts

From the entire committee of Massachusetts SRD 2014 and especially from Gail and Barbara, thank you for your support at SRD this year at the Sea Crest Hotel and Resort.

The winners and their stories were inspiring, the speakers were informative and fun was had by all.   On Friday afternoon, we had 2 fantastic workshops - Beverly Enos gave her new and improved Exchange program to a packed house - standing room only.  Our Honored KOPS were invited to attend the very popular KOPS Tea - over 60 in attendance this year which went awesome.  Our next workshop was conducted by our own Regional Director, Judy Pettit which was to a packed audience.  Thank you all for an inspiring afternoon of fun.   On Friday night, there were so many people in the float and costume parade, there were actually MORE people participating than there were in the audience.  What a team work!!  I was so impressed - and what fun we had.  Lots of pictures are posted for Friday night - take a look at the costumes, floats and smiles....amazing.  Many thanks to Shirley Cosgrove and Lyn Fasolino.  We moved on to the skit, "The Tater Family" put together for us by Area Captain Lee Allen - who was it that threw in the "french fry" comment anyway?  That surely made me laugh.  The Before and After Parade led by Area Captain Diane Trayah was inspiring - those old pictures and new bodies are just inspiring.  Our speaker for the night was Nicole Cormier - she has such a gentle way about her but is loaded with great information for us all to learn.

Fall Rally this year will be lead by MA 397 Dracut with an 80's theme.  I'll never forget seeing Richard Simmons up on stage.  Fall Rally will be Saturday, October 18 at the Westford Regency.  "LET'S GET PHYSICAL".Great team work again with the 50/50 raffle (thanks Wakefield, Dracut and Malden).

Saturday morning came fast as we began our 2nd session.  As tradition, MA 82 Reading began with the colorguard - and introductions were then given for field staff.  We were happy to see our Reigning 2012 Queen Pat Senior and 2012 Runner Up King Christopher Dion in attendance and presided over the morning awards.  Congrats to Greenfield for Massachusetts best average weight loss, to all our Century Medallion Alumni (and our new member as well) and all the past state and area royalty, all presented by Area Captain Terri Lavigne.  Our Division Winners, presented by Area Captain Lee Allen, were inspiring with their weight loss and stories that were truly inspiring.  The coronation of our new King Buddy Gomes and Queen Beverly Sullivan topping the morning activities.

Saturday afternoon was all about our KOPS.  We witnessed an awesome graduation led by Area Captain Ron Azu, Graduation address by Lorraine Lewis and the yellow rose ceremony led by Judy Pettit that left not a dry eye in the house.  We had 14 pendant winners this year ranging from 5 to 45 years (amazing) and over 60 KOPS in our Circle of Light led by Beverly Enos.

Wow - what a weekend of excitement and inspiration.  Check out the pictures - you'll enjoy them.
